Frequently asked questions.
My child is 12 and has never danced before, can they still start? Will they be with younger dancers?
Anyone can start dance or music at any age. At The Studio students are group by age and ability (except for Acro, which is based on ability). We recommend reading through our Class Descriptions to find your best fit, or call our office (905-454-5735) for assistance in selecting the right class for your child.
Does my child need to audition before taking class?
Our Mainstream/Recreational program does NOT require an audition. Based on a discussion with you and your child, we will place your child in the best class possible. We are open to students trying different classes until they find the right fit. Programs requiring an audition are the Studio Intensive Program and our Part-Time Competitive/Enhanced Training Team.
Am I allowed to watch my child?
Parents can view classes by watching the split screen monitor in our waiting area. We also have family observation week to allow parents into the classes to support and encourage their children.
Do you have an end of year show?
At The Studio, we offer several performance opportunities:
Ballet Students (Ages 6+ and Competitive Dancers): Mid-year dance recital
All Dance Students (Ages 3+): Year-End Show in late May/early June (excluding ballet students ages 6+).
Music Students: Two "in-house" performance opportunities — Christmas Jam and Year-End Music Performance in mid-June.
